You guys gotta see this HERE
that was kind of obvious! :D... but i suppose that's more obvious for the ppl who have used Photoshop (ex. me). Honeslty , i will be impressed by that when he turn his own pixel or others ppl pixel (non-commercial related) into a big rubik piece... but since this is a "small" and "underground" community, nobody outside will ever care what we said here.
I can bet... if i made a mario bros made of magazines covers, everybody outside here will love it and like it and share it. But if i do the same with one of my pieces probably just few will apprieciate the real work behind.
I just went to his website and the image was not pixeled. He used photoshops tools to achieve the dithering effect (which is why it makes almost no sense in some places). None-the-less this is still an impressive piece of work.
Banding! Lol jk. I just came accross this. I do actually agree with ui_. In reality the amazing thing about this is that this guy didn't remove/replace the colors on the cubes. So in reality he is just really talented with his understanding of how the Rubik's Cube works. (And dang... investing that much into one project? Insanity!)
Impressive patience is all this is to me, I agree with the others.
The thing about art is that it's always going to be subjective, so your opinion about art will be different from someone elses and there's nothing wrong with that : )
I didn't know that this was at GR 2010 artprize otherwise I would have gone to seen it.
this is jut my opinion and just mine. (haters gonna hate)
But... is a shame that people who use a famous character + ""computer skills"" get noticed by other people and real pixel artists with HUGE talent and creativity don't even get noticed by other people. This kind of stuff make me sad, because of the lack of talent and creativity, such as not using their own imagination to create an image or even a photo of himself (in this case "the artist"), for not saying than is just a 2/3 step filtering/leveling of a picture downloaded from internet and processing them in whatever program. The same thing happend with the guy called himself "space invader". Is this ART?, or my concept of art is wrong?, and i'm the one here who is wrong by saying that?
You don't have to do lineart, I think blocking in colors is easier anyway.
Doesn't take a lot of pixel-talent to do this rubik's cube piece, but at least he uses dithering for optical color mixing, most of the time it's just computer-generated noise with this type of art.
the hardest part of pixel art for me is the line art.
He used a program to tell where to place the cubes for him and he just changed them according to the program, anyone with a little patience and no skill can do this but its amazing anyways.
That guy have impressed me a lot. He had to have much patience to do that.
I have enough trouble with that blasted cube, let alone creating an image made from them. =D
"Hello, i would like to order 4xxx rubik's cubes"
I guess what takes more time in the process, is to turn the faces of the cube so that the colors appear in the right order.
Nice result anyway <3
I've seen that before.
:O That is so cool!!!!!!
