The Curious Expedition has released the game’s content for free on GitHub.
This includes all the image files of the game, which is often praised for its unique and beautiful pixelart.
This decision is accompanying the release of full modding support, including Steam Workshop integration. With the available image and script files, remixing and creating new content for The Curious Expedition should be as smooth as possible. This offers a unique insight into the development tools and design of a procedural game.

Why does the expectation rise when people give away stuff for free? :o
looks quite boring actually...
The OPP project is lightyears ahead.
Commenting purely from the artwork shown in this article, I find it kind of funny that it "is often praised for its unique and beautiful pixelart" when the characters are like the most generic and boring typical indie pixel style possible.
Because if you're going to gift stuff you'd expect it to be fairly good, not below average, but mostly it was the article saying "praised for its unique and beautiful pixelart. "
