You are free to interpret these themes in any way you like. Stereotypical horror/halloween tropes and characters are allowed but not required. Please clarify in the description of your entry which prompt you've used.
Next week there will be 4 new prompts for part 2 of your story, so don't worry about planning ahead too much.
Technical requirements for this week:

Colors - Max 16
Transparency - No.
Animation - No.
We're exicited to hear who will be joining, let us know in the comments with an "I'm in"!
The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.
I'll be doing my best to participate! Lots of personal stuff going on this month, but I'll try what I can to at least submit the upcoming entries in time. Shame I just saw this today.
Yes, definitely! As long as you enter at least 2 of the 4 challenges on time, you can even submit the pieces you've missed later if you like. The final deadline for all 4 pieces is october 25th.
Question: can I still take part in the event if I'm late to the first week? Because I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish the first part in time.
hoping to see some vets come back for this. Excited to see how this all turns out
Sounds good, been in a creepy art mood recently so this will be fun
I'm SO excited about this, the prompt got me hyped! I'm in!
I can see how Pixel Dailies confuses it a bit, sorry about that!
To submit to challenge 1: The Setting, you have until this Sunday, so 4 days from now. The timer on the front page counts down until the deadline.
On Monday the second challenge will be announced here, and possibly later also on Pixel Dailies again!
I'm in! Though a bit confused because of the Pixel Dailies entry. Do we have the whole week to submit?
UPDATE:
2nd - 5th place winners now also receive a Masters of Pixel Art ebook!
See the announcement for all prizes.
I'm going to go ahead and step out of my comfort zone with this. I'm in.
For those who are new on Pixel Joint: To submit to these challenges you enter it in the gallery and tick the "submit to weekly challenge" box before Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific), challenge timer is on the front page.
More details about the submission and voting process can be found in the challenge thread.
The voting for challenges has no influence on the Pixelween judging, as was also explained in the Pixelween announcement.
I'm in. I can't wait to see all the entries for this!
This sounds pretty interesting! If I have any time I might whip something up, too!
I might be in, but considering my recent performance, I'm not very confident that I'll be able to win anything haha.
oh hell yeah, this sounds super fun. I'm in for sure!
This sounds like a good way for me to practice! I might try!
Only if you want your entry to also count towards Pixelween 2007, but I think you're past the deadline for that one
We're not required to do the film reel effect on the vertical edges, right?
I'm in! This has gotten me pretty excited! I remember checking out the links to the past contests when I first joined up on Pixel Joint and thinking how cool and fun they looked. There are already a couple ideas rattling around in my head, so I'm hoping I can at least complete two of the four parts.
I can't believe I was planning to pass on Pixelween. School work be damned, I'm in!
UPDATE: You can now also win one of the 3 Aseprite, 3 Pyxel Edit or one of 3 ProMotion keys. See the main announcement
.
That is correct Reo! Only 1 challenge entry of each week can count towards your Pixelween entry, if someone chooses to submit multipe we'll clarify with them which one is part of Pixelween, but they will all count towards the weekly challenge.
I'm in!
I'm guessing you are still allowed to submit mulitple entries? As long as you specify what entries are part of the "film series"?
I'm in! :D
