I've been working on some graphics for a platformer game, and would like some crit on it.
Am I using too many colours? In total they use 9 each(excluding transparency) and I'm not sure if that's too many. Also, the dirt is way too plain but I'm not sure what kind of pattern would be best to make it look better. |

take a look at some other examples of some fine tiles made by our own:
http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/18864.htm http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/12150.htm http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/37245.htm http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/37724.htm http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/15366.htm http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/44614.htm http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/17618.htm http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/38007.htm to name a few... offhand, I'd say your biggest problems are lack of form (it looks like some green blobs on some chocolate pudding... mmm, pudding) and over saturation (ouch! my eyes!). I've realised that the colurs that I was using previously are too bright for what I want - these tiles are for a forest. I see what you mean about it lacking a shape, I wanted it too look mossy and damp but I don't know if it came out that well. |
