CHALLENGE: Chi(na)mera

Create a new creature by combining the attributes from at least 2 of these Chinese Zodiac animals:

   1. Rat
   2. Ox
   3. Tiger
   4. Rabbit
   5. Dragon
   6. Snake
   7. Horse
   8. Sheep
   9. Monkey
  10. Rooster
  11. Dog
  12. Pig

So for example, you could create a "Ratbit", a combination of a rat and a rabbit. Or a "Snoxkey" - snake + ox + monkey etc...

Canvas Size - Unrestricted.
Colours - Max 12.
Transparency - Optional.
Animation - No.

CHALLENGE RULES

• Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
• Only new pixels allowed.
• Open to all members.
• Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

I expected something a little more advanced on your part, Jeremy. Why not add some more animals in there, like a gradient from neck feathers to a horse's mane?

The quality is great, but the concept is just far too basic compared to your skill level.

Quality>Quantity.

But that's what I was adressing was the quality. The concept just seems too basic compared to your other works. I'm pretty sure anyone can stick the head and tail of an animal onto another and submit it. You're a good artist and I would just expect something a little more thought out from you.

Currently at 11 colours.
@AOTG: What if I say the body is part snake? :P

maybe a texture of wool for the sheep somewhere would be great!

About half-hour put into the sketch with 10 colors so far. Gotta get off lunch and go back to work though :P

Horse (head), rabbit (ears/teeth), monkey ("paws"), tiger (body) so far. Initially I wanted a dog body but it ended up just looking like a tiger, especially after the stripes and color were piled on, so I'm considering adding a hydrant for it to pee on. But I suck with palettes as it is without working in something like that. We'll see though. Crits appreciated, I'll likely have to tweak the palette a bit as I start to render it once I'm happy with the forms.

Tentatively beginning a wool texture; otherwise New Zealand will disown me.

Jeremy, I hope you don't hate this, but it looks like the fire your creature is blowing is artificially bent up so as not to cover the body.
I also hope you can retain the amazing quality of your first WIP, which popped so strikingly - it looks like a richly painted concept art such as Niklas Jansson makes.
