I've been tinkering with pixels since I was a pre-teen. Tsugumo's So You Want To Be A Pixel Artist? was my bible for a long time. I played with perler beads as a kid, my first pixel art was a palette-swapped perler animal. Of course everything had to be black & red or purple.
