Actually in norse mythology Odin's horse had 6 legs.
I like art with research behind it, and apart from that, this is a fantastic peice of art. The cape and horse's mane are especially good.

user
Jason_c_o (Level 1 Depressed) @ 10/9/2006 22:24
This is already in my favs, but I don't like how the front and middle legs are so close together. It looks like the frontals are birth defects. Meh, still gets a 5.

user
Sgrum (Level 5 Captain) @ 8/18/2006 13:42
Fantastic work...but  if this Odin is the same Odin of the Vikings, he hasn´t got a sword: he has got a spear called Gugner, and Sleipner (Slippery) is an eight legged horse.

user
AndyOaks (Level 1 Rookie) @ 8/8/2006 09:08
Seriously good piece of pixel art for the canvas size.

user
ryumaru (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 8/1/2006 13:04
is this thing so good that it has 2 trophies for 1 month? :P

user
Infinite (Level 1 Rookie) @ 7/25/2006 08:41

I love it, all of your work, *+5*.

All hail Ahruon

user
jakerpot (Level 1 Rookie) @ 7/15/2006 06:34
What site i download the character maker} I searched it but nothing

user
REO THE FOX (Level 8 Shodan) @ 6/25/2006 09:06
awsome!(where can i download character maker??)

user
Ahruon (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 5/24/2006 13:58
@ptoing: i use this:
http://usuarios.lycos.es/cardgallery/cmak.jpg

its an old japanese program called character maker, not very known i guess.

about the neck, i guess i could redo the whole thing, since i didnt get at all the shape it had and made it kind of random

user
ptoing (Level 7 Cuttlefish) @ 5/24/2006 11:52
Indeed, looks quite nice, the armour on the neck of the horse looks a bit out of perspective and makes the neck look flat. About the colour thing. Filesize as well and i never even got how people get up to such high numbers. In promotion this is more or less not possible. What do you pixel with?

user
miascugh (Level 4 Team Leader) @ 5/24/2006 02:51
oh, aside from that, it's pretty pretty :) i don't know the original but the front pair of legs doesn't make much sense but whatever

user
miascugh (Level 4 Team Leader) @ 5/24/2006 02:49
why keep the colorcount low? well, why make it look pretty? don't restrict yourself to superficial visual perception my friend. managing colours is just a technique like antialiasing is (well, it wasn't always like this, of course). it demands some understanding of color theory and it is just like nice proportions, smooth and correct AA, convincing lighting, composition and conveying a message (or pure aesthetics) a display of artistic skill. that's why

user
lunarknight (Level 2 Quiet One) @ 5/23/2006 06:25
Wow, what an awesome sprite. 5* and a favourite!

user
OldSkoolLink (Level 2 Corporal) @ 5/22/2006 18:00
It's awesome! Your sprites are the most amazing.

user
Wayuki (Level 10 Unobtainium) @ 5/21/2006 13:52
I wanted to say something intelligent about this, but the only thing that goes through my mind is: OMG teh secks! :P

user
halfDemon (Level 6 Hitman) @ 5/20/2006 22:46
Purely amazing.

user
Saryune (Level 1 Quiet One) @ 5/20/2006 04:21
Awesome work as always. I can see however some mistakes. Not big yet they are there. I see the body a bit big comparing to Odin's legs which give him well... A JohnnyBravo-ish look. The horse came our pretty well although it seems a bit skinny. and I don't know, there is something wrong with the proportions. Hech yeah, I know it has 6 legs, but there's something that does not fit. Anyhoo, an awesome piece of work, nevertheless.

user
Vaati (Level 1 Seaman) @ 5/19/2006 05:18
Eoah, that's fucking amazing 0_0 Love the shading and anatomy.

user
Mulchdiggums (Level 2 Peon) @ 5/18/2006 18:36
what 6 rating?

user
Adarias (Level 11 Bonsai) @ 5/18/2006 16:57
i dont care how many colors you use, but i dont think that having every color region have a completely unique ramp benefits anyones work, you need to take colors from each region and use them in other regions' ramps to pull everything together.  in fact, i think that not doing this destroys the integrity of the piece and keeps it from becoming unified, and it is this alone that keeps all your peices from being master-class (in my opinion).  your rendering skills far supass just about anyone ive seen (bar the Masters), i just wish the color sense was also so amazing.

user
Aleiav (Level 2 Quiet One) @ 5/18/2006 14:52
Awesome work. :)

user
Filax_666 (Level 6 Hitman) @ 5/18/2006 13:38
As Faktablad said, keeping the colour count low is just a matter of aesthetic and it's a purely personal choice. I like to keep very low palletes mostly to push my limits. Besides, using alot of colours usually makes the piece a bit washed out and it may lead to an unintencional pillow shading (not the case here, this piece is great).

If you'd like to learn a bit about coloour theory, you should go here (if you haven't gone already).

user
DeathByChris (Level 5 Killer Klown) @ 5/18/2006 11:02
Woah i just realized theres a six dot rating thing now, and this horse has 6 legs, the cape is really well done but i think the armor on the horse's neck feels kinda flat.

user
KRY (Level 1 Depressed) @ 5/17/2006 19:40
You just became god!

user
Faktablad (Level 6 SWAT) @ 5/17/2006 19:15
A color count is important for preserving the pixel art/computer aesthetic.  A lot of times, so many colors is just unnecessary, but it's personal preference.

I get the feeling in this and other pieces of yours that everything's on the same plane.  Even underneath the cape you use a highlight color that is only 1 color darker than the brightest highlight on the top of the cape.  Every single form has a highlight and a darkest color that is similar to all the other forms.  I'd suggest being more selective with colors so that you really can accentuate form, shape and depth.  Otherwise it gets confusing, especially in areas such as where the rider's pelvis meets the horse meets the weapon.

user
ryumaru (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 5/17/2006 17:50
xd, thats the point ahruon, your supposed to have the least amount of colors, while keeping it the same, plus a little hue varience in the shading will give it more pizazz =)

user
Ahruon (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 5/17/2006 14:36
To all those color comments... i never limited myself for colors -except- for animating, personally i don't see the point. I started eliminating colors for this one, stopped at 34:

http://usuarios.lycos.es/cardgallery/odin3.gif

so uh, i think im wasting time, its looking the same O_o

user
Sirus (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 5/17/2006 14:18
Awesome!  I love the way the cape flows.

user
Elements (Level 1 Rookie) @ 5/17/2006 14:17
Awesome work man.
the lets may seem a bit off but its a great pixel piece neverthless.
BTW is a high color count trutly important?
i mean on this age and era?i seriously think it aint, don't see what's the big deal with keeping a "low color count" but whatever that's just me.

user
Mulchdiggums (Level 2 Peon) @ 5/17/2006 14:02
look closely at the end of the sword, theres an orange

user
Setzer (Level 8 Cannibal) @ 5/17/2006 13:29
the only thing I want to point out is that your pallete is full of colors that really aren't neccessary, other than that I love it in every way, really looks professional.

user
stanloshka (Level 1 Rookie) @ 5/17/2006 13:25
amazing work, I dont like only next 2 legs....too much
