Somehow missed this faces, one of the best.. up there with nes faces for me
I am pretty much blithering illiterately at the moment. Jesus Christ.
Lovely palette, lovely characters, thats what I saw for a long time.
Somehow, after forgetting to comment this one, and even reading the description - I got here today to finally comment it - as I stole the palette for a graphic for a Amiga demo.
And you just blew my mind even more with the hidden pic O_o
Those are all great characters and the palette is just lovely.
Reveiled, but it does not just not work with MSpaint, my favorite palette editor MTpaint failed on me too. the 16x16 pallette is pretty much a requirement. I did not need the arrow, but you do need to know what to move where -_-.
Either way, cool stuff!
Haha, I accidentally discovered the hidden content while I was loading another file in Grafx2. I love that sort of thing. Especially when it's awesome pixel art.
Thanks everyone again, and Stickman, it's the best compliment for me if people tell me I inspire them :)
I sometimes (like I am now) come back to look at this in my favs and I'm still amazed out you handled these colours. It really and truly does look like you have 16 or more. That palette that iLkke provided you with , upon what you did with it is wonderful.
It inspires me even more to to try and make decent palettes instead of me just chosing some random colours and trying to make them work.
The colors and clean shapes really set this apart, and the trick you did with the hidden image was clever as hell.
Brilliant work.
can't desribe my own thoughts any different or better than this.
Oh yeah ... by the way ur artwork is amazing... really loved this piece ... :)
i have absolutely no idea how to get a clear pic .. I tried using everything ..... in the end, after using graphics gale, i saw the inverted palette and the arrows(Thankfully!!!)... And now I'm stuck again.... :( ...
I finally figured it out! I am completely blown away! The amount of thought and time you must have put into this is simply mind-blowing
i've always liked those compilations and this one is prolly the best! :) congrats! also, i really love the hidden content :) you two fellows are incredible!
bb: Made a few changes to deal with the problems you pointed out (and other things, thanks Arachne for valuable nipick action)
The highlight on the 12th fellow is supposed to be a glow around him. I made it more prominent to make it look less highlighty. Hope this helps.
You people might have to reload the image to see the changes.
This is friggin amazing! I don't really understand how you did that but it is beyond wicked coolnes.
Delicious: Yes, there are 2 palettes and an arrow. And that is the hint. You have to do something with the palette.
ok... it seams that lack of spread function in mspaint is killing people here =)
Love this piece.
I opened it up in GraphicsGale and I see a white arrow pointing to the color palette and a palette beneath the arrow, but that's all. I'm not even sure if that is what I'm suppose to be looking at?
Huh. Okay, there's the white arrow, alright, but... Then what? I want to see iLKke too D:
omigosh! could never get it to work quite right but i see him alright!! super clever. very nice faces btw
Thanks dudes.
Jamon, I know, but I think iLKke looks cooler with the old beard. More iconic.
Great “stencil” work… faces to… But the beard of mysterious is a bit different on those days… trying
to make new fashion breakthrough… =)))
Very clever. It took me a while to find the hidden image at first because I copied and pasted the image instead of saving and opening the file. Great pixeling as always.
Heehee! I tweaked it in Gimp until I found the "easter egg." Is it a self-portrait? It's an incredibly cool and well-executed idea!
I like the normal (actually bizzarre) faces too. Many of them look like they'd fit right in at the Mos Eisley cantina, especially the guys in the second row.
Photocopier: it's supposed to be a pixel.
-DE-: you can see the palette tho, right? If your program displays the palette as an 16x16 grid you should see two 8x8 blocks of colours and an arrow going from one block to the other. I really thought that would be hint enough.
Honestly, I have no idea what you're supposed to do (maybe due to my program having only rudimentary palette-editing functionality). Care to share the secret?
whos that guy... omg!!! is that a fly!????... great palette!!! i love it!....
This is awesome! I very much liked to get to see the progress of this. Portraits are so much fun, and you certainly seem to have had fun with these. :D The many-eyed-bird-alien is my favourite I think. And I Love the details in the hidden portrait!
I think you must be a bit crazy to imagine such faces ^^. I love !!
You have to open it in some prog with good palette control (aka not MSPaint) and have a look at the palette. You should be able to figure it out, really.
how the heck do you even begin to think to do that? impressive palette trickery.
Thanks everyone :)
big brother: You got some points about the highlights and such. I might go in and tweak some a bit later today.
DawnBringer: Haha, I am not THAT crazy. I drew the 2 images separately and then used a workflow which is pretty simple to fiddle them together. All it involves is copying one of the 2 as many times as there are colours, and then making in this case 8 brushes of the other full picture - one colour in each, so you have stencils. Then you singlecolour those stencils with some colour not in the images and put them on the respective 8 versions of the other pic. Then all you have to do is some arranging of palettes so that nothing gets remapped before you fiddle the stenciled out parts back together. \o/
iLKke: :P
Who IS that incredibly handsome chap in the hidden picture?
My vanity forces me to FAV this. Well played, mr.Ptoing!
Really nice faces...all 17 of them. So, you didn't paint all that by hand did you (if u did your're nuts! ;) ), used some program/script or logical brush/shading-tool? Anyhoo...this is fav-cool. :)
I really love the palette and what you did with it. You guys should do this more often.
See if you can find the 17th face :)
