I love the colors, shading and textures... just perfect!
I love this so, so much... It's amazing. The colours are absolutely perfect, everything goes so well together, your style is wonderful, and damn I wish I could pixel like this...
I would personally use a heavier outline on the tiles if it were an actual game. You made me fall in love wwith blue and purple.
Well deserved Vierbit, this is a beautiful, action-packed mockup!
Congrats with again winning the top pixel art first place
laaassseeeeerrrrrrr . lasserrrrrrrrrrrrr, bang bang booooooom owwww
sorry i got carried away
I also recognised on Indiegames.com. This graphics should be for a game... really, have to... make a game into this style, do it!
I saw this on indiegames.com and recognized it as the work of someone from PJ... very nice work! I like the bigger demon a lot, he looks dangerous ^^
Impressive work! Like ThePixelKnight says, it looks like a Bitmap Brothers game!
Well deserved first place!
Hat wahrscheinlich schon jemand gesagt, aber chaos-engine look/feel passt hier super.
Die Monster sind auch sehr schoen.
Just to say - always is pleasure to watch your works ...
Looks great. It reminds me of Soldiers of Fortune for the SNES.
Well sure it looks difficult to play, that color pallette isn't exactly made for readability, it's made for a theme. :o this piece is awesome tits! I especially love the flying shells, they seem to scream "contra".
Thanks for the comments/critics.
@Carnivac
I agree, actually I already toned down the brightness of the lava quit a bit. Was using on of the brighter yellows before switching to the orange it is now. Hard to say if it would be difficult to play, I could think of more than a few games that look unplayable in still shots but working completely fine when in game.
@Ambient
True, but when drawing the sprites I just wanted to get this finished ;).
I only think that the two demons shouldn't be identical- I think that in a game they would be in different frames, if not different states (attack, walk, die).
It's great but my eyes are more drawn to the brightness of the lava rather than the sprites and tiles so would be difficult to play if a real game.
You're very professional and it shows. I'm sort of sad we don't get to see more of your work for actual games.
Only possible weakness in regard to other high quality entries is that readability is a bit low in comparison.
Groovy. I really appreciate the fade from purple to orange as the rocks get close the lava. I think where the rocks overhang (on the right side of the causeway) could benefit from some daker shadows like those under the characters and med kits?
This is excellent! Definitely a game I would play right now :)
I love the cylindrical shapes in the landscape, and the flying things, and the perfectly captured feel of a game. Really nice.
Evil pokeballs make my day! Lava somewhat looks like orange soda to me(:
Where do you find the time to create such masterpieces in weeks? Great game design, great characters, great background, the amount of tiles is really big because most are used only a few times... HUD, items, and of course LAVA, it is all there! Great work!
It's always your pieces that I get a [x] at... :(
From the preview, it looks hot. Are you able to upload it to imageshack and show me? It'll probably win my vote if so! ;)
On second thought, this looks much more impressive than The Chaos Engine ever did. It's f'in delicious.
Loving it! Style looks a lot like in that old Bitmap Brothers classic The Chaos Engine. Instant fav!
dood have you made a game?
you really need to. I would play the crap out of that.
Just some excellent work here. Agree about what B.O.B. said.
Out of all the entries, your's displays the best example of handling this palette. Others seem to have trouble making use of the brighter purples, and orange/brown work together, so it comes off a bit busy, or hard to read. This, however, is clean, effective, and readable. Wonderful management of the palette, if I may say so again....Also, glad to see a resurgence of the old pixel artists submit art here again.
I predict that unless new super awesome stuff comes along, this, the one by Adarias and the Mrmo Tauri one will win, not sure in what order, just a feeling they will.
Very nice :)
Edit: Oh no, right horn of big demon has some outline bits missing D:
Aah, now I have one more work to add to my favorites on this weekly Challenge. I have 5 options to vote :x
This is very awesome. I loved how you used the colors.
The tiles are so seamless! Love it!
