God that's gorgeous. I mean, awfully creepy, but in the best way. ;)
I can't wait till you've played FarCry3 and start dreaming (and pixeling afterward...)
Love the palette and the idea!
But you should put the shark more behind the island, to make it clear it's a giant one. I didn't notice before I read the comments.
Wow, this is really impressive, I can't believe it's only 16 colors! Nice work!
You have swimming shark and swimming zombies, but where's SWIMMING ZOMBIE-SHARK? :(
BTW you managed to make best dithering I ever seen.
Oops, sorry if my comment was like "taking away" (I don't know if this expression is ok) your merit! A place in the top 10 would be very well deserved!
Actually having been on small motorised boats in the subtropics helps a lot to not forget such things :D
@ptoing Something was niggling me about that boat now I know why, thanks. :)
@iLKe Thanks! :D Yes I'm dithering maniac :). and as for the refs I don't know why I didn't put them in the description I didn't evern bookmark them 9.9 (thankfuly they where easy to find.)
This is really nice, tho there should be some wake at the front of the boat.
Ahh quite refreshing to see such a piece. Very good use of 16 colours and yeah it's a bit of a ditherfest but I don't mind that at all, bring on the old school!
Using references is not a shame, especially if the result is as nice as this. I'd just put the refs in the description.
8/8 and FAV!
@ EdJr Here are the refs I used:
for the shark i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01581/greatWhiteShark460_1581547c.jpg
the island / sea travelingguideinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/maldives-islands.jpg
and the boat www.fyneboatkits.co.uk/photos/products/little-laker/wooden-motor-boat-plans.jpg
No direct refs? Because everything, especially the shark, is superb!
Haha wow, what a mash up. I really like the color palette you used, as well as the checkerboard dithering. :D
Have you watched Lucio Fulci's "Zombie"? In this film there is a scene in which a zombie fights a shark in the sea. Your picture remind me of that.
Thanks Merez! :) With this piece I restricted myself to 16 colours hence the large amount of dithering otherwise there would have been less of that dreaded dithering. ;)
Hmm maybe I'll do a version with 256 colours
Very good stuff this job!
@ a3um: I've toned down the skin colours of the zombies and made the edge of the water a little sharper. But using the darker colour for under the water is a little too dark for my liking, so I kept the original blue and drithered in some of the green at the bottom although I think it could do with a bit more. I added some shafts of light in the water to brake up the soild blue and some more zombies, what do you think?
great stuff! my only criticism would be the excess dithering in the water-- it does little to help achieve a watery effect. love the shark, though, probably the best pixel rendition of one yet!
A dream about a giant shark, bigger than a small, Castaway-sized island and zombies that can swim, both attempting to eat you? Sounds awesome. O_o
Ha. Really cool piece, though. ^_^
This, also, reminds me of Atari ST graphics. Might be the palette in combination with the dithering.
Superb.
So shark is proper giant and behind the island? Took me a few moments to realise that.
The description makes me hungry. Mmm, chocolate-coated zombie segments.
Wow! That's so awesome. Action packed.
The colors on the boat are neat.
Cool !
