This is fantastic. That fire animation nearly swept me of my feet. As a typography nerd: I can't help but notice a few places where the letter spacing isn't completely optimal. For example: there's a lot more breathing room at 'DAS' than the rest of the piece because the open and round forms aren't being compensated for, and the 'E' in 'HER' could be moved slightly to the right. Minor things, and I understand it's extra hard here since there's also that nastly little perspective at work, but it does knock it slightly out of balance.
You never cease to amaze me. Bloody brilliant texturing and love the colours used.
I didn't know *you* were the guy whose latest feminist posts on Fb I love! I'm sending a friends request :))
This is awesome, as always. I especially love the tiny sparks/ash that falls down. So lemmings-y. And the palette, so Amstrad! Love it!
Really liking the textures and depth on all of it! Say, are you doing the ingame graphics too? I mean, backgrounds, characters and so? Those are top notch, too.
Hapiel, I'm afraid I don't have any method for how I make such a texture. I just try not to repeat myself, really.
Great! it would be nice that fire light is reflectet on "D" letters in animation.
Seriously rockin stuff. I agree that the handle of the axe? tomahawk? seems rough in comparison to everything else, which is top notch and obviously very carefully crafted. Regardless, amazing work.
@Helm, I'm pretty sure Dusty made the tiles for this game. Nice work on the Logo:)
Haha, I was zooming in and thinking: Oh, there has to be texture everywhere... This must be from; and then I scrolled down ;)
A question though: what do you base this kind of texture on? do you start with random doodles?
I love the fact that you have managed to both make the letters textured and show off your pixel tech without making them totally unreadable. So classy and functional.
Yes! Certainly, looking closer I also spy some art by Alex HW.
The axe and torch would be animated-in and are different sprites.
There are pixelation names involved in the art of this... I recognise Ruymaru's art for sure. Whoever did the tileset art is really pro too!
Fantastic! :D Love the attention to small details, like the broken ''column'' in the second 'D'.
If there is one part that sticks out it's the handle of the axe. I get that the lack of aa is to make it pop? Still it seems a bit rough to me. Top stuff though, while restrictions fosters creativity it is a treat to see you unhinged from time to time( if only for the colors you choose )! Do you know if the artists on the game is anyone we'd know of? The sprites and portraits seem to remind me of someone but no specific name comes to mind.
edit: oh and the fire!!!
Antiboton, I studied flames a lot on the internet for it and the best thing I found I should emulate is actually 3d particle flames instead of real flames, for just 8 frames of a loop. That's why it looks artificial! The most difficult thing was to minimize the loop, which I still think I could have done a better job of, it still jumps a bit.
Awesome fire effect and font design. Is hard to believe this is fully hand made. But your rank and your personal gallery speak very good about your art.
that fire animation is a beauty, and so is the text. Bah, perfect stuff.
The fire animation and the shining on the axe are just great. Really love te detail you put in this logo.
