First you make a painting, then you resize it and reduce the amount of colors, then you clean up.
(but cure isn't that cheating?)
Yes! Deal with it!
Thanks, updated the link
Original link doesn't work anymore :(
now this is something else!
Excellent ! Great & original !
There is an Italian proverb:
Every dog is a lion at home.
A FAV fo sho
Awesome style, great colors. Great translation from paint to pixels too!
that eyeball makes a great and creepy focus point
It's only cheating if you aren't already well known on PJ #madlukman
for me that is not cheating, its just another way... great work btw i love it :)
really great piece
this is an amazing use of only 34 colors, great work man!
Salvador Dali on acid trip. Love it!
pfffff so amazing!....
Great palette, great execution!
The variety in texture is wonderful. Such great shaping too =]
That's oozing with style. Great stuff!
Lovely work. Great shapes and colours. Reminds me a bit of Mastodon's The Hunter cover:
The brown line between the yellow and purple? Yeah, would probably be better if it didn't break, thanks for pointing it out. I'll touch up a few pixels later
fantastic. I loved the colors
Shrooms pls :P
Lovely! This here line is standing out as jaggy tho
Ptoing: Yeah I was joking about it being a cheat. The process is just as tedious, but with the added benefit of the computer mixing in a few of its own decisions.
Long: Definitely inspired by that 'wildstyle' graffiti aesthetic.
Peyton: Not every painting translates easily into pixel art. Sometimes vectorizing a painting before reducing the size and colors helps, but its not always meant to be.
@dawnbringer that comment made me appreciate this even more. Also I agree that your painting style is very fresh, Cure.
If only my painting style wasn't so blended and rough, I would try your method :p
Creepy, weird, and colorful in such a delightful manner. B)
kinda me waking up
Not cheating at all imo. And very lovely result too. Pretty trippy looking :D
- O.M.G! -
Oh man, that really needed more space.
For some reason I can't help but imagine this sprayed on the wall of a building, would make for a great view.
r1k: this pixel is actually on loan from MoMA, enjoy it while you can because they'll probably want it back soon.
jal: added a black border to give more bg space. liondog is still off center to the left a bit but it doesn't bother me enough to adjust it.
reo: thanks! I've been trying to play catch-up after putting way too many skill points into pixel art and not enough into traditional art.
dawnbringer: If only Dali weren't so squeamish about sex, I'm sure Picasso wouldn't mind just one more lovechild.
hapiel: yes. all future works must be copies of paintings.
all y'all: thanks guys. needed a little something in my gallery since I haven't pixelled all year
Gorgeous piece of art. Nice to see more pixel works from you.
I like this :). Are you going to write new guidelines now for PJ submissions?
very nice translation
I miss some dither. Nice painting!
this is what we call real art ...
If Picasso and Dali had a lovechild... :D
Fantastic! I hadn't even realised how accomplished you had gotten in painting! The stuff on your site is some of the most inspiring and interesting paintings I've seen in forever.
Awesome, nice job!
It's polished, it looks good, it shows pixel technique, great colours and it's entirely your own work.
I remember seeing the actual painting before hand I have to say I love seeing this in pixels.
The painting is awesome too~!
Awesome pixelling and colors. I would have liked a little more BG space.
you should hang it in an art museum
(yea sorry I kind of modified it, I liked the idea of making it a little more abstract). Anyways, great work.
