Ok I've started on MARK III and trying out some colour ramps with it, what do you think of it so far? i.imgur.com/XEffLf3.png
13 is a too small number to waste even 1. Right now I'm seeing 3 useless colors and an awful lot of uncovered areas in MkII version.
@ ptoing: Thanks again :D I made the grey darker hopefully not too much.
Yes yes yes! Looks much better now, the palette and the piece :p.
That edit is about 1000% better. The only thing I would now change is to make that greyish colour (the one you have a large cluster of on the lower right of the helmet) a bit darker.
Thanks everyone for the feedback :) Here's an edit. I've increased the contrast and replaced the light fleshy colour with a blueish grey to replace the light blue between the green and yellow on the skull. Also played around with the oranges/reds, green and dark grey to get them work together better noteably on the chest area.
Let me know what you think. :)
Nice pixeltech overall, but some of the colours do not work very well in certain spots. The yellow-cyan-green on the skill looks horrible, and some of the greys mixed with the orange ramp on the chest also looks pretty off to me. In that case mainly because the greys are visually darker than the red and the orange that come after them.
I must agree with Carnivac and Muxaun here. Though the palette is very nice in other aspects. The dark blue could be darker imo, since you already have very interesting colors for similar luminiscense values (the red and purple are just awesome).
I also do like the blueish light colors. But I can't see a good place for the bright saturated blue. I do believe what is interesting in this palette is the relation between orangish and blueish colors, but bright colors are likely to be orange in this palette, so instead of a bright blue, maybe a color that works as a buffer between orange and blue would be more suitable. Not sure though, just my opinion (I haven't tested the palette yet).
Edit: Ok no, I'm wrong. Actually the bright saturated blue works, but not when it's placed next to the bright saturated orange. It works perfectly as a backlight color. Very nice work with this palette!
Imo the palette lacks very bright and/or very dark color.
The piece looks misty because of short luminance range.
That's a shame. The orange worked far, far better than the brighter blue which just isn't working at all in my opinion and sticks out badly. but hey it's your work. Do what you think looks best :P
Don't mind me, I'm just passing by to say that you're pretty good at placing coloured squares on a screen.
Strangely the orange looks absolutely fine to me but it's the blue that sticks out between the green and the dark gray in my opinion. Otherwise this is pretty nice.
wow that works really well. The orange doesnt work as a buffer between the yellow and green on the skull though. I dont mind it on the body though
Please post pixel on comp thread so save us 'testing' time, thx :)
Thanks guys :)
