I've been experimenting with simulating volumes with tiles (because my iso skills are near non-existant, and this is sort of my alternative to that), and this is the result.
Yes, the chickens can fly, didn't you know?
*update* improvised cloud shadows, and darkened the "solid" shadows a bit; added some AA on the clouds and smoke and fixed some small mistakes. I originally "reasoned" that the clouds are transparent enough not to cast any shadows :D
Also, the highlights on the opposite side of the lightsource is a leftover artefact from when I first made the tiles- it's supposed to increase the contrast between the illuminated (left) and shaded (right) parts of the "cube" tile, and while it does look rather silly I kinda liked it so I left it as is :)
