This week you are challenged to create an original RPG Party consisting of four character sprites. All four sprites must be placed on the same canvas and separated by transparency.
Your party must contain exactly four from this list:
You may incorporate some elements from different stereotypes into a charatcer, but each character must primarily relate to one of the above archetypes.
Please clearly mention in your description which characters are in your party.
Canvas Size - Max 200 x 200.
Colours - Max 32. Including transparency.
Transparency - Required. Must be used to separate each sprite.
Animation - No.
Oh this sounds like a blast! I look forward to seeing what you genii come up with.
Adarias says wise words. Now everyone should go and make some badass pixel art so we can have a real challenge this week!
list challenges almost always get the most varied and numerous entries, so i'm not sure that's a great protip :P.
FINALLY, a challenge with some clear boundaries and small enough canvas to make sure things can be judged on equivalent terms. It's been a few months since we had something so tightly organized and I like this.
It's totally possible to make any character fit this class. Anyone with a weapon can be stuffed into the warrior role. Anyone with a pocket full of herbs can be a healer. Anyone with a few spells can be a mage. Anyone with pockets can be a thief. And you can have any kind of monster or monstrous being, which means you get a freebie.
But guys, the point of the challenge isn't to change the rules, it's to make something amazing within them. It's not to make them all space marines and argue that they fill the sci fi equivalent of each role. It's to take the concept and do something beautiful. But even so, there's nothing in the rules to stop you from making them space marines or aliens or pirates or lobsters or samurai. If you can't fir 4 characters within that, and really must be totally unique and different, you don't need the ribbon! ...which is about a *community activity*.
It means that the sprites need to be floating on a transparent background, not a colour or pixelled background.
Oooooh, YEAH. I want to do this one so bad.
edit: Hmmm. I wanted to do these characters I have from this thing I'm making. But one of them is both a mage and a thief. I guess he's mostly a thief and I should go with that, though. And then this other guy could be both a warrior or a creature. At least the other member is just an inventor.
But that's only three and I need four D:
I want to go back to the time when parties would always consist of a warrior, archer, cleric and sorcerer :(
Nowadays rpg games are MUCH too creative/realistic!
I'm sorta new to this. what is mean to "separate the sprites by transparency.."?
I'm so joining this. 2/4 down even, just can't decide what the pet/creature will be. A mechanical dragon sounds cool?
hey allright, sounds fun - count me in! ( as if anyone 'd care... ^^; )
And the Medic in tf2 uses a healing crossbow. So yeah :)
Archers can be warriors can't they?
A thief may use a bow to snipe from hiding.
An inventor may wield a wacky over-engineered compound bow.
A pet/creature may be an archerfish.
This challenge makes up for the one last week for sure. :P
