@Jeremy: I have to agree :P

No. Only stuff created after the challenge announcement.

Unless of course by 'older' you mean something you created in the last 2 days...

I don't suppose I can animated an older icon?

alkaline (Level 6 Yonkyu) at 7/21/2009 4:05:26 PM

maybe i'll finally enter one of these challenge thingies

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 7/21/2009 12:08:34 PM

not to mention that, unless i missed something and PJ now allows .APNG file formats, you cant use partial alpha channels in .GIF animations.

susuwataris (Level 6 Yonkyu) at 7/21/2009 11:17:19 AM

of course you can do that MFlanga, simulating transparency is not the same that actually having transparency.

MFlanaga (Level 3 Chief) at 7/21/2009 9:05:34 AM

But couldn't you place pixels to create the illusion of semi-transparency? Such as to emulate the effects of smoke, glass, or water??

Jeremy (Level 7 Mass Murderer) at 7/20/2009 9:26:16 PM

No pixels should be semi-transparent in any pixel art o_O

plyvinyl (Level 2 Quiet One) at 7/20/2009 9:23:44 PM

no transparancy does that mean all pix must have full alpha? can some pix be 50% transparency?

Peeter (Level 6 Hitman) at 7/20/2009 4:53:12 PM

I think I'll enter this one, but at the moment, I have no idea at all what to make.

skamocore (Level 11 Psychopath) at 7/20/2009 2:19:24 PM

All frames need to be unique.

Blackbeltdude (Level 5 Rokkyu) at 7/20/2009 10:59:32 AM

I got a question... do at least 16 frames need to be unique, or if you did a 20 frame animation, would all of those need to be unique too?

Kudohazama (Level 1 Jukyu) at 7/20/2009 9:33:30 AM

sounds like a nice challenge.

skamocore (Level 11 Psychopath) at 7/20/2009 4:49:40 AM

It just means that the content of each of frame must exist only once; no two frames can be the same, that's all. You can copy and paste stuff/slide part of a frame around/whatever, but it's obviously preferable that you put more effort into your animation than just moving bits and pieces around.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 7/20/2009 3:27:04 AM

Could we expand abit more on the "each frame must be unique". does that mean that a frame cant be repeated 16 times or that something such as copy/paste and/or sligthy modify each frame to get an animation (IE: slide a part of the frame)?

skamocore (Level 11 Psychopath) at 7/20/2009 2:37:40 AM

ok challenge description updated.

Jim16 (Level 3 Private Eye) at 7/20/2009 2:24:40 AM

Niether do I, I would make each frame separatly and then combine them with some program on the internet. I'm sure there's something that can do that? Doesn't bother me much though.

heyy13 (Level 1 Rookie) at 7/20/2009 2:14:19 AM

Well count me out, i don't have an animation program. But i anticipate some awsome entries! : )
