woooah. This is so trippy. I love stuff like this that really tries to blend all sorts of hues together while still saying limited in color count.

thank you! aaaages ago chris2balls on the spriters' resource helped me shade a salamander monster i was working on, pretty much most of my fire technique is built off of that haha

I always forget it's the base of Pikachu's tail that's black, and not the tip. For whatever reason my brain is convinced it's the tip to the point where I'll mess up even if I have the reference right in front of me. orz

so I guess that is a Pichu getting beat up. Yikes!

WOAH, love the sort of crystal effect exploding into smoke. really sci-fi ish, nice use of colors too.

Thanks - I'm glad I was able to help some. A lot of times I have no idea if I'm just rambling and the other person is gonna have no idea what I'm saying.

I actually really like the fix to the seadweller's shoulder, looks pretty good on the big guy too. There's another small tweak I'd make to his (our) left foot, but it has more to do with shading on the ankle, I might bring the shadow down a bit further to help convey the perspective I think you're going for on the foot - but I'm no expert on that, and much of what I do myself regarding perspective is trial and error, so take my specific advice here with a grain of salt.

For the flower girl's foot, the edit is definitely an improvement, and I get what you're going for with the bent leg now. Maybe try editing the outline slightly to convey the arch of the foot? I realize it'd be a bit different shapewise than the other feet, but I think you could get away with it considering you have two other trolls wearing heels or shoes where the outline implies an arch.

also sorry for the favbomb, I really like your style and design, and even if I haven't done anything with mine in forever I really appreciate a good fantroll or two.

Love these designs and the colors used for each. the difference in body types and facial features is especially nice, and I really like the different ears.

the one criticism is that the MSPA no-arms & stick legs thing looks kind of awkward on some of the characters - the left (our left) foot on the one with the flower crown looks sort of lopsided, as it comes out of the dress into a kind of square angle with the heel on the right - maybe making the transition from the leg to the foot more tapered as with some of the others would help. I feel like the left (again, our left) foot on the larger one is too detailed as well, kind of uncanny compared to all the smaller sprites. Arms-wise, once again the largest one's blazer looks kind of odd just cut off like that, broadening where you cut off the shoulders might help, and the aquatic troll suffers from a similar issue where the smooth cutoff of skin and the underarm part of their tank top reads really awkwardly. (Then again, I feel like tank tops read really awkwardly on MSPA style stuff anyways, but that's just a personal opinion.)

I feel like it's probably real difficult to reconcile the simplistic MSPA limb style with the more realistic(ish) take you have here, but it looks really nice on the smaller sprites. Maybe just a bit much on the bigger ones. Not sure. I hope there's a good compromise somewhere, since honestly I love that sort of mix of more realistic and totally abstract/symbolic elements, yknow?

Anyways again, love these. Sorry if my miles long critique made it seem not so. I'm just wordy.

this actually doesn't sound like a bad fix to make, though i'm not sure if i'll come back to this

Neat effect with the hair turning into hands! I think she might look better if she were aa'd on a simple or solid colored background, as the darker grey theme I'm using makes the lightest parts of the hands look jagged in places, but overall a really nice job.

I KNEW this looked familiar!

Happy to see you ran with the silhouette and made it into your own zee-captain, too. I love seeing Sunless Sea and Fallen London fanart. The muted colors and the blue tone to the whole thing capture the feel of the game nicely.

Yeah, you're right. Thinking on it now, I think a stack of birthday presents, or another table with more snacks. I'll definitely keep that in mind next time I do a background like this c:

Duelyst? If not, the similarities are striking, though I do say that's a good thing. It's not often I start playing a competitive game for the pixel work alone.

This is super smooth. I love the animation when it raises its arms, really powerful and conveys a nice feeling of reverence.

I have a sphinx character with a long neck I haven't drawn in a while - this is as good an excuse as any. (Wish I had seen the Pokepalettes challenge earlier than yesterday afternoon.. but I might still do something with Magneton's palette because I've fallen in love with it)

Thank you!

I could probably have made the hair and face more clear, the idea is it's covering his eyes and he has a lil' string of magma drool coming from his mouth. If I ever go back and work on this again I'll see if I can edit it.

And I had a lot of fun working with the colors. I should do that again.

Tarenken @ 5/2/2015 12:28 commented on Tracer

Ah hey, Tracer! Nice choice, even though Mercy best girl ;) (haha, I've never played TF2 or anything similar, but I like Blizz's take on mobas with HotS, so we'll see!)

I like the clusters you've used on her face and hair, makes her look very sleek and digital. I might extend the shadow on the neck to round it out some, just because as it is right now it looks kinda stiff and non-organic, even with the style you seem to be going for.

Also, you got her eyes down, but she doesn't seem cocky enough - I think just a little smirk would do it. Super cool avatar though!

How cute!

Though the art style of the game kind of restricts how you can improve it, it might be worth changing or removing the black lines on the golden rings/cuffs, would make those parts look a little less crowded.

And thanks, I remember you too! I still have quite a lot of fakemon designs up my sleeve, I plan on making a big dump of the ones I've done since I stopped posting here and submitting it soon.
