It looks like a painting. -nodnod- The foreground could use some cleaning on the outer edge, especially near the lower right corner. The blue glassy curved bit is a little jagged, and could use some AA. The center/bottom moon and the ship could also benefit from this. I think it is really well done, but with just a few more minor tweaks it could be even better.

I think you could make better use of the colours to make it a bit more readable; the hippo is hard to see against the background, as is the lever/paddle/swith thing. Why are those gears there? Is that a trampoline or is it some kind of air-blower? It just doesn't read as totally finished to me, sorry.

As for the piece, I find it hard to accept lava flows under water? The pressure, moisture and cool temperature would make it solidify quite quickly. The ground also seems to be slanted almost vertically towards us. The angle is just... off. I'm afraid I can't be of more help.
