Great to see you back.  I feared you had gone forever!

"Come play with us, Danny.  Forever and ever!!"  I can practically hear the sinister music and the voices of those dead twin girls.....cool animation!!

Awesome.  I wish I could do remakes like this.  This is some pretty professional looking stuff.  You should send this to Capcom and maybe they'll get off their butts and make a new MMX for Virtual Console. :)

Nice.  Especially like the background earth and cracks.....

I like the thick outlines here, actually.  Nothing wrong with it as a stylistic choice.

Excellent work.  Especially the scales and detail on the head.

Third stage was the African Mine stage (boss battle pictured here), and you had the Amazon, Transylvania, Himalayas, and Moon stages.

At the end I think you had to race Flintheart Glomgold to get your treasures back, if I remember correctly.

Capcom made a whole slew of Disney games back in the day, all of them quality platformers, but I remember Ducktales being one of their best.

Amazing stuff.  Kind of looks like the style of mobile phone games.  What I wouldn't give to be able to do sprites like that....especially like the Resident Evil 5 and Super Mario Kart pics!

Absolutely stunning work!!  It's stuff like this that illustrates why you are the premier pixel artist.  If only you had your own tutorials to show the rest of us how it's done.

Like someone else said, the clouds are my favorite (although the monks are fantastic as well).  They are so accomplished looking that at first I thought it was a scanned photo, only to realize that pixeljoint doesn't allow photography, and upon zooming in, one can see the excellent hand-pixelled work.

Thank you!!  Glad you like it!  Yep I liked the way the trees and clouds turned out too....not so much on my stone wall textures though.  I have much to learn with tilesets, especially stone.

Nah....I couldn't anyway....I'm not a musician ;)

It did have some catchy tunes, though.

Pixelbear @ 7/17/2010 07:05 commented on 16-bit Gargoyle's Quest remake

Indeed it is a remake of the very first Gargoyle's Quest.  Most who have played Demon's Crest (the later SNES sequel) will notice Firebrand went through a redesign (orange color, smaller head, less chibi-style proportions).  The screen size was modeled after the SNES format.

One thing I noticed after looking at it from a distance is that the colors kind of clash in places, giving it an incongruous look.  As you suggested, utilizing colors from GG2 (but maybe darker and with more shading) might have benefited it.

Thank you all for the comments....I loved the GQ series and always wished Capcom would make another game, since I always loved the lil' red devil and thought the GQ games were quality games all the way.

Also, the font is not my own, that is pixel for pixel Capcom's font, utilized in Ghouls n' Ghosts and Demon's Crest.

Well, it was mainly an exercise in pixels, but I wouldn't think it would be a copyright issue unless I tried to profit from it in some way.  Besides, most people (or at least any avid horror fan) would recognize the iconic house.

I have some original stuff, which I'll probably post in the near future.  Most of my stuff tends to be influenced by anime and video games....especially Capcom art and Henk Nieborg.  I'm also looking to try my hand at sprite animation.

I appreciate the input!

Not sure how to do that.....but a poster was used as a reference point.  Thank you all for the compliments!  I want to do pixel animation as well, but I don't have any programs that can do that.  Is there a program like MS paint that allows creation of animated GIFs?
