I enjoy these works you've made fore steam pirates thus far (don't really understand the cat theme yet...)

See all comments below, with this added;

that's awesome how you used pawprints to contrast the colors on the right-most cat.

really, sir? you took the time to do such a piece? lol.

it's well done, however. i'll give you that.

the body stance gives it motion in freeze frame; that's not easy to do. The hat's angle is a bit off (skull) and the blood on the sword looks more gelatinous than bloody. and while i've got the critical momentum, the eye looks misplace on the face with the mouth; her emotions are mixed.

Shift the skull a bit so it's in line with her head and look at some pictures of blood on weaponry to get the best effect of blood. work a bit with her eye and other general emotions to get something working with the pic.

as it stands, I'd give it a 4, solely on those things upstairs. Fix them and I'll fiven it for sure!

I'm loving these animations you are doing. the enlarged pixels give it a true feeling of retroactivity. only problem is that when the 'demon' recedes into itself at the end of the animation, the transfer seems off. I don't know if you were going for that effect, but it just looks ill-made at that point.

Perhaps have the creature dissipate into a smoke plume and have his head and mout reappear from his body in a fashion like a lava lamp. You get what I'm saying?

...oh i see it. it's a poke'mon. What's it called? Arceus? *shrug*

An odd perspective. couldn't really tell what you were going for at first glance. The palette used gives it a nice vibe, certainly something poke'-like. One issue is the green on the cheeks don't seem to contrast with the rest of it's face. perhaps fix that? It's nothing too big, but it bothers me (perfectionist >_<)

It's good but not excellent, IMO. (biased as well; not a fan of new pok'emon

@manjaman, I think the dotted white is supposed to be the news ticker. just a guess.

Personally, I love the execution of the piece. The geometric figures are wonderful, both in the fact that it's a good reprise from pseudo-realism and that it is humorous and inspirational.

I literally laughed so hard I cried at this. You got my vote!

has an aztec-like feel, what with the angular features and such. Not really my thing, but I give you props on not giving up when it doesn't look good (like i would  )

A grat piece, overall... but i feel that the title at the bottom makes it feel like a loading screen for the genesis, or something

i agree with jeremy, the wrist looks unnatural. plus, i think the parasol could use some darker contrast on the underside to give it more depth. despite those imperfections, the character is well done and refreshing to see. you don't see very many clowns on here.

user
Spikrodd @ 2/25/2010 06:50 commented on The Wolf

nicely done. i like how the colors in this piece and the other game commision pieces seem muted; it gives it a more lively feel without being all in your face. i'd like to see the final product of all these pieces, perhaps run sequence(s) of the characters, too!

I like the colors used to create the cast lighting from the fire sprite. the angle for some reason on the sword erks me... i dunno, maybe it's just my jealousy sparking false flaws amongst your blue genie.
