@CELS - Yo, thanks - the eye is kidn of simple, yeah; thanks for the feedback! Yep, it's supposed to be a meteor heading towards Earth.

Very solid pixel work in a tiny package, haha. Nice work! I like how you managed to get a nice couple of hits out of just a few frames.

Beautiful.

I really like how simply moving the eyes downwards conveys blinking. Really cool, simple effect!

OK, the color is correct now; for some reason, it appeared paler before. Not sure what happened.

Whoops, sorry, my bad. Fixed!

Extremely good. Very, very nice work. Love those colors and how smoothly animated the character is.

Nice work! I like the acid and air effects - really lovingly rendered, and I like how you paid attention to their overall form and positioning. Keep it up~!

This is pretty cool! Had some thoughts about this, but didn't want to post CC if it wasn't wanted. Keep going!

Thanks! I've been working on it for about 10 months so far, around since the beginning of the year.

Excellent. I really like the use of lighter colors to draw the eye to the head and chest of the character. It's not really "lighting" so much as a very strong stylistic expression, and I love it.

Hey, thanks. Higher contrast sounds like a good idea, yeah.

Nice work on the colors and animation, yeah. I think there's something weird going on with his back leg - it kinda feels like it's just stretching, and his front thigh isn't moving, which is a bit odd, too. Overall, nice work, though!

Cool. Nice 'n simple. Might want to tweak his hair color to be slightly more different from his skin color, but it's nice anyway.

I never commented on this, but I really like the perspective and subdued colors you've got going on here. Really nice work!

Hah, wow, cool. Looks similar to Paul Robertson's style , just a bit smaller. Nice work on the colors and animation. Speeding it up and adding just a few more frames would make it shine, I think, haha.

SolarLune @ 4/15/2016 06:22 commented on Bees

Not sure why this is called "Bees", but hey, it's well-drawn. Here's some CC:

  • Usually, you AA against a dark background, so it's kinda weird that you're doing it on the pixels that are inside the white outline (as they should AA between the pixel color and white, rather than the pixel color and the dark blue).
  • Don't forget to pay attention to your lighting. You've got some lighting going on, but you could've used the darkest skin tone to have highlights on the black cloth (to separate the boots, for example), and her thighs aren't light, basically.
  • When you AA, you can use more than a single pixel when the situation demands it. For example, the thighs might have made good with more because they're larger, straighter shapes (so you can use AA to imply sub-pixel resolution).
  • I'm not certain what she's holding - it looks like an egg, and her hand looks like a scoop or scythe or something?

Anyway, nice pixel art.

Cool animation. There's a couple of CC's I'd recommend, like:
  • Moving the brim of his hat as his head turns to indicate that the entire hat is moving,
  • removing that corner pixel on the hat brim to take out the look of a sharp corner, and
  • having his punches move straight forward rather than swinging "downward".

Overall, though, it's pretty good.

Hah, nice squash and stretch. Gives it a bit more extra "oomph".

user

This is pretty cool. I like how it turned out, and that you didn't just slide stuff around but actually changed some parts of it to help keep it dynamic.

user
SolarLune @ 3/16/2015 00:19 commented on Lil' Fox

Pretty cool! I think the head could be worked on to appear more fox-like - it's kind of big, I think, and the eyes lack any personality (or pupils, of course).

For creating a piece from scratch, I usually start out with a rough draft of the shape I'm going for (which might als obe a fully filled in silhouette for a single sprite), clean it, color it, shade it, and polish it. It works OK for me, at least.
