Thanks a bunch! Yeah the dragon is what I started with, probably why it came out the best. Some of the other things lacked a bit in colors due to the limit and the fact I "spent" so much of the pallet on greens. Overall I was pretty happy with the effect.

Love the coloring style. The dithering is used to great effect to give it a almost painted look.

Very great. Love the robot's "anatomy"

Love this style. Any art that instantly wants me to play a game with it in it is great.

Just took a look at Shadowgate, can see it!

I do like the inverted version quite a bit. You're definitely right about that, I always have a hard time with color.

The perspective isn't really meant to be accurate for a few reasons. First it's based off work by another artist that I was trying to emulate. That work doens't really use one point perspective as it's purposely skewed.

Probably a bad choice to try to do in pixel art, but felt like doing something different with the pallet.

I thought about the perspective quite a bit, but decided that even if I did want to make it technically correct I really could figure a way to do that without ending up with really jagged lines in order ot have them all meet. Especially given that with the color pallet I couldn't AA them. Maybe there's a way I'm just not thinking of, but I couldn't think of anything. Could have been due to my sketch being bad in the first place, would have been better to plan it out for the perspective I think. But after I had most of it down I just couldn't find a way to make it work.

Any ideas let me know so I can use them in the future!

Thanks for your comments both!

It's not nearly "exactly" like the original, there's quite a few things different for better or worse. Not huge differences, but seeing as that was the look I was going for I was not sure how I could make it drastically far away from them and still have it look like them when I'm using this scale and color selection. Any advice would be great!

I don't think it defeats the purpose to base him off something else. I could have changed the style, dimensions, or whatever more but don't think it would have been as readable and as obvious that it was a Rivery City Ransom inspired take on mega-man. Once again any information about how I could improve on my work to not "defeat the purpose of the challenge" would be helpful.

As I read it the "purpose of the challenge" was to redesign mega-man, which I did based on inspiration from my favorite NES game.

It is a bit of a scene, but it does have both a shoot and take damage animation for the man. :) I'm glad you think it's fun idea, mashing of games(especially those with distinct art styles) always makes me smile.

Yes, I love Sierra's games from the era. Quest for Glory has always been my favorite by far. Shadows of Darkness in particular, but the first one is probably second which i swhat inspired this scene.

Very nice. One of my favorite games as well, always enjoy seeing art inspired by it. Everything is very clean.

Sorry, sorry. I think this comment is for the first one which I uploaded on accident. It  has quite a bit of CG work on it as I went over it with a semi-transparent brush for shading. There is another copy I uploaded later which is the pixel version where I only used the pencil tool and fill tool(with opaque colors). If this is the first one(which I think it is based on the description and color count) then please ignore it as it's definitely not "pixel" I was confused about the definition at the time. Sorry for trouble.

Deleted, had much transparent brush and too messy.

Yeah, real messy! Done fast for avatar since I can't use my regular one here.

Photoshop, drawn at actual size with 1-pixel pencil brush only.(Other than a few solid color fills for base)
