"Graphs and art. Opposites."
I couldn't disagree more. All art forms began as method to convey information primarily. It was only after something that could transmit that information in a 'better' way came along that most of what we think of as art (painting, sculpture, photography, - hell - even dancing and music) came to be valued for the way it could transmit info. Even the sprites that most of us that come here end up posting were originally meant to convey where a player/monster was relative to other things on the screen, which way they were moving, what they were doing, whether they were damaged, etc. IOW, they conveyed information. Reduce the sprites to icons, reduce the icons to numbers = it's a graph.

There's art in what khobby is doing and how it's displayed, even if you don't understand it.

BTW: I do believe that each of the colors he uses in his work represents a note on an 7 note scale. I'd also conjecture that the numbers in this one represent cycles (frequencies) and the harmonic interaction between two frequencies.
...maybe.

Really great colors and composition.
Feet look broken, tho.

I like it. Really smooth outline considering you couldn't AA to the background. Good job with the hair, too. I don't do hair well at all. His jawline on his left side is just a little jaggy (but I'm not sure I could do better). Did you start with a scanned sketch or do the line art on the computer?

Great idea with the hover, Sedgemonkey. Thanks for providing a link back, too. Also, I like the randomness of the picture order (but I think you may have had had before).

I'd like to make Moon Rover my avatar!

Yar @ 4/25/2007 19:54 commented on how to dither too much
Actually, I think the dithering kinda works for the head and the two midgreen colors in the pants. It's the highlights and their contrast that make it seem...over-detailed(?) in the chest area and boot area. I like it...

Very nice casting of shadows. Cool palette, too.

Wow! Where to start!? I like the trippy grass dithering the best. Great idea! It makes it look concave (like a small valley or arroyo). The leaf pattern in the foreground tree is really simple and really fantastic!
I'd love to see more of this

I think that's a moth or fly, Jal. Great pallete and mood. Love the cat under the bench. The ripples in the puddle seem twitchy (just a bit). Wonder why the leaves don't move with the wind. Really nice work!

Cool dithering and Lineart relationship. Also like the debris from the block and the change in hair shine when the camera moves back. Good pacing, too.

I like the tan and grey palette. You've got some really good detail work around the open engine compartment: looks like it might actually do something, instead of be another mechanical texture. Adarias is right, I think tho, that you might want to lighten the shades on the top of the engine and all other similarly oriented surfaces. You could also tint them slightly purple (as the sky) if that's a constant sky color in your RPG. I admit, I had a hard time realizing I was looking at a scene in three quarter perspective at first.

[Edit]: Come to think of it, you wouldn't even be able to see the sky if you keep 3/4 perspective...
Still, awesome design!

Huh. That's...weird. Do you see a blank box with the broken picture icon? Do you see the preview?

[Edit]: Were you using IE? I tried this page in IE, and I'm not seeing there either now.

[Edit2]: Changed it to a GIF and that seems ta make it appear in IE. Huh. Sorry bout that, guys. I dunno if it's Graphics Gale, PNGs, or the site. Weird.

Cool. Love the see-through effect. Might want to close the middle of the A, tho. Looks like an R. Like the texture dots on the M and U, too.

Nice job on the glare of the sunglasses and lighting on the hair. Like the signature and the dither pattern on the right cheek, too!

Wow, that's not an easy strut to do, much less animate properly. Great work!
Only thing I'd say is make him hang just a few fractions of a second more on the frame where his left arm is the most forward.

Lots and lots of amazing pixels!

Sedgemonkey, can I make a request? AKAIK, there's no link on the voting page to get back to the Pixeljoint main page. Can one be added?

I like this. Color scheme reminds me of the 70s for some reason (in this case (and in this case alone) that's not an insult).
What's up with the gun, tho?

Yar @ 4/9/2007 19:31 commented on I've got bad news, and...wait. No. Just bad news.
Thanks, all!
@Jalonso: You're absolutely right, it was...a bit too ambitious. Patience is one of the best things pixel art is teaching me.

@Stickman: Thanks! It was originally titled as the "Col. Duchamp..." etc. line. But I decided I needed something shorter. Obviously, this title is sooooo much  shorter .

@ Ikke: Ha! Yeah, it's pretty funky. Actually ended up with almost a black light feel (maybe?). Anyway, I wanted to try and avoid complete black and to experiment with dark shades of clashing colors. Did it work? I dunno...On the plus side I'm getting diability for blindness now.

@Rocky: It was flattened by the wheel of a wagon making an absinthe run. The driver, high on cheap wormwood juice, assumed the monkey was a hallucination. :)
But, yes...it is a bit. :)
