 | TheInquisitor @ 11/17/2009 3:06:29 AM commented on Yonisaurus I thought this lineart creature was difficult to work with and I think it shows here. The background you've done seems to be the highlight of the piece...and I do love the background.

Even though there is no background, this one is my favourite. (and considering that Fool entered, that's one hell of an achievement) It seems to have the best shading of all the creatures and gives it a really sinister edge.

The first frame of the head moving and turning to its right goes a bit quick though, I think. Her head kind of snaps to the left.

Bakatron: I'm sure Doppleganger won't mind too much about you learning from his work though, but I think you should credit him if you did use his as a template, which it certainly does look like you have.

I would say that I've seen better than yours pixel wise and pallette wise, although not many, but your ability to create excellent works in what seems like a matter of minutes with such vivid style and excellent composition means that my pleasant, honest (ego boost) opinion is fair.

 | TheInquisitor @ 10/30/2009 11:15:12 AM commented on Steampunk avatar Yeah, it does look similar to Z. Steampunk is great, it's such a pity that it's criminally under appreciated. My critique for this piece would be that it could've had more smoothness to the animation. That probably was a conscious choice by you though, I'm sure.

| | TheInquisitor @ 10/30/2009 11:06:24 AM commented on Big Bird That looks pretty good, Fool. Well, gosh I'll just be a kiss arse - it's looking to be the greatest portfolio site I've ever seen. You're blessed with too much talent for one man. Did you have to be able to code competantly as well? You're like the James Bond of the pixel world.

 | TheInquisitor @ 10/30/2009 10:55:10 AM commented on Bannière Here comes Mr Mean, Mr Bringdown.
I love the mountains in the background and the little building, but the rest I'm not convinced about. There doesn't seem to be a lot of direction to this piece and much of the foreground stuff just seems to be plonked down to fill the space. I personally think if you left out the wood fence bit out it would've looked better (less is more!). Also, call me crazy but I kind of get the impression that you plonked that big rock pillar down in the foreground because you were struggling with attaching the foreground to the distance. I think you should remove that. I also think that instead of having a yellow sandy foreground, you should keep it consistently green and grassy as the whole piece doesn't feel very consistent. Also, this same problem looks peculiar where the thick forest trees are just right next to the sand.
The pixel work is inconsistently poorer in some areas - the rock in the foreground, the wood fence, the sandy foreground and also the clouds on the left, which aren't nearlly are well made as the clouds on the left.
What I'm seeing in this picture is flashes of brilliance and quality pixelwork, but as a whole picture it appears sloppy and bitty. The composition is poor. (Something I'm also weaker at) I reckon if you plan this out a little better, keep the mountains, the clouds on the right and much of the tree work, we could see something very special.
Sorry to be such a downer about your work, but I could see this becoming really impressive so wanted to get my views in.

And thanks for the positive feedback, guys. These'll be put in the game shortly.

 | TheInquisitor @ 9/30/2009 6:33:56 AM commented on Alice Love this piece as well. It's crisp, clear and simple. I think you perhaps tried to over complicate your last piece but this is definitely a case of less is more. There is so much character in these two (or is that one?), I'll be favouriting this one.

 | TheInquisitor @ 9/30/2009 6:30:54 AM commented on The Cheshire Cat I criticised your dragon-riding-lady piece, but this one I like. :) Very colouful and very well done. I particularly like the flat colour for the whole shaded area, especially since it's not black but a strangely suited rather bright pink. These snazzy uses of shade is something I always neglect to do in my own pieces so I shall be using this one for inspiration.
