Thanks for all your nice comments, helpful suggestions and crits Jalonso: The lighting is ambiguous for a reason, it's an old trick when making 2d game art, it allows you to place props are characters into the environment with minimum lighting confliction. Like you say, it works but it really shouldn't. If it were a a painting I would have tackled the lighting in a completely different way. Neota: I see your point about it looking a bit like a river LOL! I hadn't really looked at it in that way.
