True dat. Usually the final standing differ a lot from my own opinion, but this time all the medals all went to outstanding entries. That's not to say there weren't many more worth the medal.
Not to mention I feel especially honored to have had anything to do with the winning entry. ;D

Damn, this was a hell of a challenge... so many good entries.  Choosing five top pieces out of that lot would've hard enough.  Congrats the top three who really nailed their tributes!

Edit: I'm hoping the Billie Jean low turnout has something to do with Easter holiday. 

Whoo, didnt thought id be in the top three for this one, with all the comments about how I failed to mimmic Fool's style...
Of course it also depends on wether the challenges are more about how good is the theme implementation, or if it is more general, the theme just being the direction.
In case of the former, a public vote just doesnt work, since theres no way to control what voters choose and why.

I agree with 1 and 2, but number 3...it's a nice pixel art, but it doesn't do what it was ment to do for this challenge. It look more like his own style pollished. Not like Fool's style...
