Nice work with the lighting and the patch-style dithering. I agree with dogmeat in that you might look closer at those straight lines and soften a bit.

Deviant Art? Sounds a litle fruity to me. :) I think I'll stick to this stuff here. Chortling usually means I'm in a jolly mood for future ref.

(chortling) Oh really, oh pixelicious oracle? What other hindsightful sins will I have the pleasure of perusing?

Jalonso - your assumption would be incorrect. It really is my first attempt doing any sort of computer work. Now don't get me wrong, I'm an ink illustrator and I'm not too shabby at it--but I've been against computer-generated art for a long, long time. A friend recently helped me to really appreciate the process and the end results. So--I started trying my hand at it with a self portrait.

I will say that what you see here is the result of a lot of re-working and learning the software as I went so you're not seeing the ABSOLUTE first piece, as it were. But let's say I did all of this during my first two days learning to use the computer for anything but e-mail and surfing the web. :)

Purple is the color of dreams, and tastes like grape. After staring at this piece for a while and falling asleep, I dreamt of my commodore sixty-four only the monitor had been replaced with a large purple grape. It still worked, but it was strange looking at the screen as it wrapped around in spherical fashion.

The grape was a bit smaller than the original monitor. I loaded Bruce Lee and had to keep turning the grape when I got halfway across the screen...

Thanks for that.

I followed the maze about half-way before my eyes tried to eject from my sockets.

Love the style.

A pointer if I may?

If these are meant to go together, check the light source. It seems to come from upper right on "friend" but I don't get the same feeling on "ragdoll." Outline on "friend" is too black, especially where his arms meet his head.

Otherwise, creepy in a good way.

Good. I would add a hue to the black though. Maybe a super dark blue or purple. :)

Also, you should try animating this!

What a screwball palette to work with. They look kind of ... organic. Like they were grown, rather than constructed. Catch my drift? Cool concept.

This is so... french it's not even funny! Good work. It's kind of nutty with all the effects going off at the same time. Eh, I'm so new I shouldn't be giving a crit but what the hell, you may decide to go back on work this sometime...

When she takes a breath, have her rib cage or upper torso lift up and her spine curve just a bit. I'm still dreading making a head turn myself, so kudos for that.

Love it! (right-click, save-as). The blood dripping gives it a grotesque feel. The jet disturbing the grass with the fly by is bril-i-ant. Kudos!
